Mid-Michigan Recycling is uniquely qualified to provide waste reduction services to business and industry, by recycling eligible wood waste into green energy, thereby eliminating the need to landfill this material. MMR is permitted by the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality to process and recycle eligible wood waste which is then used to create steam and electricity at the Genesee Power Station in Flint, Michigan. Recycling wood waste into energy benefits the environment by offsetting the need to burn fossil fuels to produce that same energy. As an alternative to using fossil fuels to generate electricity, burning wood, a renewable resource, is carbon neutral.
Operating since 1993, MMR has the experience and equipment to meet customer needs for recycling wood waste. MMR utilizes specially designed equipment to process wood waste and other biomass materials for use in the generation of green power. Its equipment includes two "made in Michigan" Morbark 7600 mobile grinding machines - 1,000 horsepower each, as well as multiple front end loaders, telehandlers, trucks and specially designed vans for transport of wood chips. MMR can meet the needs of both large and small generators of wood waste, with multiple receiving yards available across southern Michigan for customer drop off, or for larger volumes of wood waste, MMR can coordinate pickup with your waste hauler or provide the service directly.
MMR understands and supports the proper handling of wood waste in an environmentally sound manner, consistent with requirements of the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality and MMR's own strict wood handling procedures as waste wood is received and processed for its end use. MMR personnel are trained to handle various types of wood waste and biomass by-products and are available to assist business and industrial customers in identifying solutions that reduce, reuse and recycle wood waste products.
